February 26, 2011

Welcome to Third Lanark Online.  This is a "not for profit" website, for the benefit and enjoyment of all former Hi Hi fans particularly and football fans generally.

Our Aim

The aim of this site is to bring to you the definitive Third Lanark website. You will find the story of the club, including new photographs, and many other pieces of memorabilia.

Joe McInnes

My book on Thirds published in August 1996 'STILL SEEING RED' featured mini biographies of a few players throughout the club’s 95 years at times glorious history. I am taking an opportunity now, to feature one of the finest left wing wizards to wear the Scarlet in the shape of Joe McInnes, who contributed massively to Thirds successes during his seven season spell at Cathkin. If this proposal meets with your approval, let me know, and I will present a different player appreciation every few weeks for your interest. Click here to go to the Joe McInnes page.

Old News

New:  THIRD LANARK SUPPORTERS ASSOCIATION - Saturday 9th April 2011 (updated May 2011)

A superb evening of sheer nostalgia, which, with around one hundred former players and fans in attendance confirmed the long held belief that the great memories of this wee former SFL club will not be forgotten.

The list of players present would provide a quite formidable side today.

EVAN WILLIAMS

JOE DAVIS   ALAN MCKAY   DUNCAN MCKAY

HUGH MCLAUGHLIN   JOHN MCCORMACK   COLIN BAILLIE

JACKSON   FYFE   DALLAS   GRAY   BUCKLEY

The evening kicked off with an hour of not stop laughter, incorporating a combination of our MC's (Pat Rollink) professional abilities and the fact that Evan Williams, Mike Jackson and Alan McKay were all on top speakers' form.

Club historian Bert Bell then reminded all and sundry of the reasons behind the event - to help raise the necessary funds to achieve the ultimate aim of the re-emergence  of a semi professional Third Lanark team, playing at Cathkin Park.
Bert explained that whilst both he and Bob Laird had for over forty four year been fairly successful in keeping the club name alive it was time for the 'cavalry and big guns' to come forward and complete the objective.
He reminded one and all that since the club's demise in June 1967 absolutely no one outwith former fans and associates cared a jot for Thirds.  So it was effectively up to those present to spread the news now - so join up and help recharge the old battle cry once again - Hi Hi Hi.
Anyone interested in a follow up to this plea contact Pat or Matt either of whom will supply you with all the necessary information.

MATT CURRY - 07834 - 641258.

A delightful buffet was then much appreciated, whilst Bob Laird's twenty minute film show of the old Hi Hi's in action created great interest.

Organiser Pat McGeady effectively thanked all concerned and this was followed by Third Larark Chairman, Simon Weir, confirming the determination of his own and his supporting committee to work non stop to justify the sheer viability and worthiness of the new Third Lanark AC.  Simon also confirmed that last week he had handed into Glasgow City Council offices a 300 page document expressing sound reasoning and statistical details with regard to Third Lanark AC's legitimate clain to play at Cathkin Park.

Come on the Hi Hi's!
